Blythe Cricket Club - Players’ Kit Policy
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure all players (senior and junior) have the correct, safe, and consistent kit for training, matches, and representative duties. This supports performance, safety, and a professional club image.
Match-day Kit

Whites
-
Compulsory: White club branded playing shirt (short/long sleeve), Saturday & Sunday League matches 1st XI, Sunday XI, & Development XI.

Required: White trousers,

Optional: white club branded jumper (optional weather dependent), white Base layers or “skins” (Base layers or “skins” must match colour of playing kit), club branded cap, white or navy brimmed hat

Coloured Kit

Compulsory: Coloured club branded playing shirt (short/long sleeve), Saturday League matches 1st XI & 2nd XI, Junior games, 1st XI Cup games, 1st XI T20’s, softball festivals, Women & Girls games.

Required: Navy trousers.

Optional: Coloured/white club branded jumper (optional weather dependent), Navy Base layers or “skins” (Base layers or “skins” must match colour of playing kit), club branded cap, white or navy brimmed hat.

Footwear (see Footwear requirements) – correct surface-appropriate shoes must be worn.
Protective Equipment

Batting Helmets – Compulsory for ALL juniors (U18) in training and matches, and Optional for senior batters when facing hardball.

Pads, Gloves, Abdominal Protector (“Box”) – Compulsory for ALL batters.

Wicketkeeping Gear – Pads, gloves, and helmet are compulsory for juniors and recommended for adults when standing up to the stumps.
Optional Kit

Club training kit (shorts, training shirts, hoodies).

Sleeveless/long sleeve sweaters with club branded.

Club jackets or wet-weather gear.

Arm guards, thigh pads, chest guards (individual preference).

Sunglasses, sun hats, or caps (club branded).
Footwear Requirements

Indoor Training (Sports Halls):

Clean, non-marking trainers.

No studs or spikes.

Outdoor Hard Surface (nets):

Trainers with good grip.

No metal spikes. Rubber-soled cricket shoes recommended.

Outdoor Grass Wickets/Outfields:

Cricket spikes (metal or rubber) mandatory for bowlers and strongly advised for batters and fielders.

Exception: Softball festivals (trainers acceptable).

Bowling Machine Use

Helmets compulsory for ALL Junior batters and Optional for Adult Batters.

Suitable gloves, pads, and box compulsory for All Batters.

Coaches must supervise setup and operation.
-
No player to operate without prior instruction.
Junior Protective Wear

Mandatory Helmets for all U18s in batting and wicketkeeping (standing up).

Boxes are compulsory for boys in all hardball formats.

Pads and Gloves are always required.
-
Chest/thigh guards strongly recommended as players progress to hardball.
Team-Specific Kit

1st XI - Wearing club training kit (shorts/trousers, training shirts, hoodies, cap) is compulsory prior to ALL games.
Presentation Standards

Club badge/logo visible on all official kit.

All players are expected to arrive for matches in club polo/shirt or hoodie (off-field wear).

No non-cricket branded items (e.g., football shorts, rugby socks) in matches.
Procurement

Official kit supplier: ONEO.

Members are responsible for purchasing their compulsory kit before the season.

The club will provide a limited stock of shared protective gear for junior use, but players are encouraged to obtain their own for hygiene and fit.
Enforcement
Captains and Coaches are responsible for ensuring kit compliance on matchdays, repeated non-compliance may result in consequences until correct kit is obtained (possible consequence £5 fine per game for senior games).
Safeguarding takes priority – no player will be permitted to bat without compulsory protective equipment.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Cricket Committee and updated yearly.
