Service Standards
We recognise our responsibilities under the Licensing Act and apply the following standards:
-
Hours of service shall be between 11:00 until 23:00.
-
Spirits will not be served in quantities greater than a double measure in one glass.
-
Spirits will not be mixed in the same glass other than as part of approved cocktails.
-
Spirits will not be served into draught alcohol products.
-
No products over 50% ABV will be stocked.
-
Staff must refuse service to anyone who appears intoxicated and will encourage soft drinks or water instead.
-
Free drinking water is available at all times during bar opening hours.
Age Verification – Challenge 25
We operate a Challenge 25 policy:
-
Anyone whose age is not known to the server and who appears under the age of 25 will be asked to provide photo ID (passport, driving licence, or PASS-approved card) to confirm that they are over 18.
-
Service will be refused if valid ID is not provided.
-
All refusals are logged in the Bar Refusals Register.
Membership & Guest Requirement
-
Blythe CC holds a Club Premises Licence only permitting sale to members and guests unless a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) has been approved.
-
The Club Premises Licence only applies so long as there are 25 or more members of the Club
-
Members must wait 2 days for admission to the Club before benefitting from any offers or discounts that may apply
-
Guests of any member of the Club can be served. There is no definition of ‘guest’ within the legislation and whether or not somebody is a genuine guest would be a question of fact. However, large scale events open to the public at large could not qualify people as guests.
-
As well as their own members and guests, qualifying clubs are also able to admit associate members and their guests (i.e. members and guests from another ‘recognised club’ as defined by section 193 of the 2003 Act) to the club premises when qualifying club activities are being carried on without compromising the use of their club premises certificate.
Promotions & Advertising
-
We will not condone or glamorise excessive drinking.
-
Promotional material will not encourage drunkenness or anti-social behaviour.
-
Sponsorship and events linked to alcohol will always include responsible drinking messages.
-
Promotions and advertising must only be to members and guests unless a TEN is in place for the specific event being advertised.
Drink Driving
Blythe CC does not tolerate drink driving and actively discourages it:
-
Staff will not recommend alcoholic drinks to customers known to be driving.
-
Soft drinks are always recommended to drivers.
-
Staff can provide free water to drivers.
-
Staff will offer to arrange taxis on behalf of customers.
Safeguarding & Family Environment
-
Junior players (U18) are not permitted to purchase or consume alcohol on club premises.
-
Alcohol consumption is restricted to designated areas.
-
Members are reminded that their conduct when consuming alcohol reflects directly on the club and its reputation.
Accountability & Enforcement
-
Bar staff and volunteers will be trained in this policy.
-
All breaches (e.g., serving minors, intoxication, disorderly conduct) will be recorded and reported to the Commercial, Socials & Fundraising committee.
-
The Club reserves the right to ban members or visitors who breach this policy.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Commercial, Socials & Fundraising Committee and updated in line with Blythe CC Licensing guidance.
